About Richardson Farm RI

Richardson Farm RI, a family-run flower and fruit farm in Foster, Rhode Island, lovingly cared for by first-generation farmer Lauren Richardson, her husband Matthew, and their daughter. Nestled on 20 acres of fields and forest, we are restoring the original farmhouse and the last standing barn while cultivating the land with care and purpose.

Farming isn’t new to us—Lauren and Matt both spent their teenage years working on apple orchards—but in 2019, we took a leap of faith. Leaving behind our tiny city lot, we moved to the countryside to pursue our dream of farming and raising our family. We cleared the land ourselves, relocating thousands of iris bulbs and beloved perennials to their new home.

By 2022, Richardson Farm officially bloomed with apple trees, blueberry bushes, thriving flower and vegetable gardens, and we added maple syrup production and a CSA program—just before a fire tragically claimed our home and pets. Grateful to be alive, we took a moment in 2023 to regroup. Soon after, our neighbors offered us the chance to take over the farm across the street. Today, as the stewards of this beautiful 20-acre property, we are honored to continue its legacy and share the bounty of our land with our community.

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” – Robert Stevenson
